La Peetch/La Pitchoune House Manager and Client Assistant
Okay, Perfect Hospitality Group is looking for a bilingual house manager/ butler/ housekeeper/ concierge/ magician/ aka Chief Steward to work at La Pitchoune, year round. This is a contract job or can be made into a CDD for first season, and into a CDI for future seasons (French full-time contract).
Job Responsibilities:
Ultimately, you’re the soup to nuts caretaker of La Pitchoune. The governess, the maid, the housekeeper, the chief steward, the concierge, the big kahuna. You’ll be the point of contact, the magician, the person who makes sure our clients have a great time, but mostly from the point of cleanliness and client management. You’ll be well-supported year one, and by year two you’ll be mostly autonomous.
How this shakes out:
You will be the sole person responsible for the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the entire house (not the grounds, just the physical building). You’ll learn the pulse of the home, and figure out a schedule that works to keep it utterly spotless, and well-maintained. This will include (during the season): Daily cleaning in client rooms, bathrooms, windows, walls, dusting, etc. And weekly turnover, when needed (about 35 weeks a year).
You’ll have a team that supports you for client management (both virtually and on the ground) and to support other pieces of your job. But for the most part, it’s you.
This includes:
Manage, maintain, clean, and iron (where necessary) the inventory of all linens
Keep detailed books on expenditures
Interface with all producers and purveyors to ensure correct deliveries and improve costs
Update a maintenance schedule, which must include recurring weekly/monthly tasks (check Kitchen gas, clean window wells, etc.) AND a running list of projects/budgets (bathroom renovations, fixing the sink, etc.)
Manage check in / check out, and daily client interaction on working days. You’ll have TWO FULL DAYS OFF a week, no matter the season.
Act as concierge for clients: Making appointments (ideally BEFORE arrival), and supporting them with recommendations on a daily basis when on-site.
Manage on call phone schedule (so you don’t have to be on-call all the time!)
Work a few dish pit shifts a week in the Cooking School (only in 2025)
Be the security system main point of contact, with backups for days off.
Manage gardener and any other groundskeepers weekly/monthly/quarterly goals and be point of contact.
Food, Cleaning, etc. inventory and shopping.
Making sure all deliveries are timely, and not unnecessary.
Manager contractors for fixes and maintenance
Answer client emails on a daily basis (with help from online team in order to start a rapport with clients, only on days you work)
Building and maintaining relationships with luxury travel designers/agents; building out systems to improve bookings; better cashflow management tools; client relationship management from a an admin perspective
Working with gardeners and grounds team to harvest produce for clients during seasons.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
Must be willing to drive. You don’t necessarily need your own car, but you need a driver’s license and be willing to drive clients on occasion and drive for errands. If you have your own car, we’ll cover gas and car insurance each month (up to a certain amount).
Must be in reasonable physical shape and be able to lift 25 pounds over your head easily. This manifests primarily as dealing with trash, you need to be able to pull a bag out of the can, bring it to a car, and put it in a dumpster comfortably.
You must speak French (near fluently) and English (totally fluently).
Natural Problem solver, and someone who loves navigating challenges
This is best suited for a friendly introvert. While this is a client-facing position, more than half of the work required is done alone and for strong extroverts can feel quite lonely.
BONUS CAPACITIES!
• If you’re a good cook, and enjoy cooking this will be a dream for you. While not required, certainly helpful.
• Interest in farming. There is a potential for extra hours, additional pay if you’re interested in working outside and farming at our partner farm.
• Chicken knowledge. On occasion you’ll have to take care of the hens when our chicken dude is out of town.
Hours:
This is a Chief Steward job, which means your hours vary. This is a seasonal service job depending many more hours during Spring, Summer, Fall rather than during winter. This would never be a 24/7 kind of role (which many of these are during certain seasons), this is a role that is demanding but would never be more than 5 days a week during the highest of seasons. You aren’t the ONLY point of contact, just the main point of contact.
Starting pay depends on contract preferences:
This role is IDEAL for a Chief Stew on a yacht looking to have more work/life balance and be land based. GONE will be your 16 hour days!
This role CAN ALSO BE STRUCTURED as microentrepreneur/independant contractor on a less full-time basis, or CDD or CDI (for European residents).
Initial probationary period: March - June 2025
CDD starting pay: 2500 euros gross
CDI starting pay: 2600 euros gross
Microenterprise/Entrepreneur: 23 euros an hour
IF you’re not legally able to work in France, you’ll need to be legal before you arrive. We’re happy to support you in finding a visa that works for you if you’re not European. BUT you gotta speak French to make that work. This role may require you to have one other contract in France (outside of us), depending on preferred pay structure and your visa status.
